FRG Presents: Onscreen Charting Tools for AccuReports

FRG’s recent update to AccuReports, its proprietary software, allows users to create customized graphical representations of tabular data from reports. The AccuReports Onscreen Charting Tools create, save, modify, and share visualizations for user-generated tables. These tables are built by filtering for panel, time, and data scope.

What Are Onscreen Charting Tools?

Onscreen charting tools let users visualize their data and highlight trends or analytics that may not be obvious in tabular spreadsheets. They also help users building a presentation who want to export charts from AccuReports into slides. This feature allows each user to create custom charts from a standard report. With onscreen charting tools, users specify their analytics and choose the graphical representation of the report data.

Applying Onscreen Charting Tools: A Quick Tutorial for AccuReports Users

After a report completes rendering in AccuReports, users will see the “Data View,” “Chart View,” and “Create Chart” links appear above the report output.

The “Data View” and “Chart View” links toggle between displaying and hiding each section. The report output is displayed in the “Data View” section, and any charts appear in the “Chart View” section.

Step One: Generating a Custom Chart Using Existing Data

To create a new custom chart, click on the “Create Chart” button. This will display a pop-up where users can select:

• the type of chart to create
• the column to use for the label axis (vertical axis for the horizontal bar chart, horizontal axis for all other bar and line chart types)
• the columns to use for the data axis (horizontal axis for the horizontal bar chart, vertical axis for all other bar and line chart types)

Select to sort the data by specific columns (for generating “Top 20” type data, then click “Generate” to create the new chart.

Step Two: Rearranging and Adding Charts

You can drag the charts to rearrange them in the “Chart View” and create additional charts until you have all the visualizations you need.

Tip: On the top right corner of the charts are three buttons that allow you to minimize, edit, or delete an existing chart.

Step Three: Saving Custom Charts

Once ready, click on the “Save” button to save the custom chart view.

The next time this report is run, a “Show Saved Charts” button will appear next to the buttons mentioned previously. Click it after the report renders to automatically create custom charts from the data. You can use these saved chart settings with any panel and date range selection you choose. Users can also export the charts by clicking the “PDF” button.
